Personal/Philosophical/Political Profile
My tendency towards sarcasm, interspersed with copious ranting and profuse profanity, may disorient the occasional blog-hopper that stumbles upon my humble web site. Wondering where I stand on an issue? My Personal/Philosophical/Political Profile should help clear things up.
Bio in Brief
A New York native, I grew up in Rochester and earned my B.A. in psychology from St. John Fisher College in 2001. Shortly thereafter, I relocated to the Kansas City area and founded my own company, Hot Dog!, LLC. I authored my first eBook, 13 Lucky Steps to Writing a Research Paper in 2004 and in 2005 I self-published it in conjunction with the newly formed e-publishing company Peedee Publishing, a subsidiary of Hot Dog!, LLC. I’m currently working with Pier Media to market the book, and am also conducting research for several upcoming titles. Additionally, I’m hard at work on several Hot Dog! related projects, including grief and bereavement sites for both humans (Always Remembered) and their non-human animal companions (Angel Pawprints).
Many of my interests revolve around non-human animals as well as the environment. I’m proud to say that I’ve been a vegetarian since 1997, and a vegan since 2002 (no cheating!). I’ve always been a bit of an enviro nut - a “nature nerd,” if you will - and I practice the 3 R’s religiously. Along with my fiancé, Shane Brady, I started both the Kansas City and Rochester, NY chapters of Freecycle. We still maintain both web sites and are “list owners” of the Kansas City group.
I currently reside about a half hour outside of Kansas City with Shane and our “fur babies” - Ralphie, Peedee, O-Ren Ishii, and Ozzy (three dogs and a cat). All of our animals are rescues, and came from Dachshund Rescue of North America, LL Dog Rescue, and Animal Haven, respectively (Ozzy was found as a stray). Ralphie is the oldest, having been born in 1997 (and adopted in 2001), followed by Ozzy (b.1998/a.1998), Peedee (b.2002/a.2003) and O-Ren (b.2004/a.2005).
Our professional lives are very much influenced by our personal ethics, and many of our projects are the inspiration of our beliefs. For instance, our ultimate vision for Peedee Publishing is to create a publishing company that specializes in environmentally and socially responsible and post-anthropocentric subjects. Along this vein, Angel Pawprints is a web site where grieving humans can gather to mourn the loss of their non-human animal companions.
I don’t want to ramble on and on and on (how boring is that?), so if you’re interested in learning more about my personal and professional lives, check out the links below, and have fun perusing the site!
